Morogoro. The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has recognised 13 outstanding students at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), reaffirming its commitment to nurturing talent and developing a skilled workforce for Tanzania’s agricultural sector.
The students were honoured during an awards ceremony held on October 7, 2026, where TADB presented awards to students who excelled academically in agriculture-related disciplines.
Speaking on behalf of TADB at the ceremony, the bank’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Ms Edna Nyatta, said the recognition was part of a broader partnership between TADB and SUA established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

She said the partnership, among other areas of cooperation, enables the bank to identify and support students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance in disciplines relevant to the agricultural sector.
Ms Nyatta congratulated the award recipients and urged them to continue learning, embrace innovation and apply the knowledge acquired at university to address challenges facing the country, particularly in agriculture.
“Your academic achievements should be a foundation for creating practical solutions to the challenges facing our country, especially in the agricultural sector,” she said.
She also highlighted TADB’s “Learn with Us” programme, which provides young people with opportunities to gain practical experience through internships at the bank.
According to Ms Nyatta, about 10 SUA students have so far benefited from internship opportunities through the programme, with six subsequently securing permanent employment.
She said the initiative was also in line with recent directives by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania on strengthening the implementation of internship programmes to equip young people with practical skills and improve their transition into employment.
TADB also commended SUA for its continued contribution to producing professionals needed to drive the agricultural sector and pledged to strengthen its partnership with the university in promoting youth talent, skills development and employment opportunities.

For his part, SUA Vice Chancellor, Prof Raphael Chibunda, thanked TADB for supporting the awards and urged the bank to extend internship opportunities to the 13 students who were recognised at the ceremony.
Prof Chibunda said giving the students an opportunity to gain practical experience would enable them to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the realities of the workplace.
He said such exposure would better prepare the students for employment and entrepreneurship, particularly in Tanzania’s agricultural sector.
The partnership between TADB and SUA reflects growing efforts to connect higher education with industry by giving students opportunities to complement classroom learning with practical experience while strengthening the pipeline of skilled professionals for agriculture.
