TADB to lead efforts in addressing climate change impacts within Africa’s banking sector

Dar es Salaam. Through a partnership between the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), under the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP), the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has developed innovative systems to assess and manage climate change risks in agricultural lending.

These systems have been made possible with support from the Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF).

TADB has become the first development bank in Africa to establish such mechanisms, positioning itself as a pioneer in ensuring that farmers in Tanzania can access climate-resilient and sustainable financing.

By integrating climate risk management into its lending operations, TADB is empowering farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices that can withstand the adverse effects of climate change.

This milestone marks a critical step towards transforming and strengthening Africa’s banking sector to foster sustainable development that is both resilient and inclusive in the face of climate change.
