Dodoma. The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has been named the main sponsor of the 2025 National Nanenane Agricultural Exhibitions and has handed over a symbolic cheque worth Sh400 million to support the event.
The sponsorship underscores the bank’s growing role in transforming the agricultural sector through affordable loans for inputs and farming equipment.
Speaking in Dodoma on July 31, 2025, after receiving the cheque, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Gerald Mweli, praised TADB for its vital contribution to agricultural growth in the country. He said the government, through the Sixth Phase administration, has empowered TADB to provide low-interest loans that enhance productivity among farmers nationwide.

“This year’s Nanenane also marks the 10th anniversary of TADB, which has been instrumental in driving agricultural transformation in Tanzania,” said Mr Mweli. He added that the exhibitions will feature a variety of activities, including conferences, financial services for farmers, and agricultural education.
TADB Managing Director Mr Frank Nyabundege noted that political will from President Samia Suluhu Hassan has enabled the bank to grow into one of the country’s key financial institutions.
He emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of Tanzania’s economy, employing over 70 percent of the population, and that TADB is committed to enhancing its productivity.

“TADB leads in providing affordable loans in the agriculture sector. We currently work with 19 partner banks to extend low-interest loans to farmers across the country,” said Mr Nyabundege.
He further noted that the bank’s total value has grown to Sh1.2 trillion due to continued investment by the Sixth Phase Government since 2021. He added that loans issued to the agricultural sector by various financial institutions under President Samia’s leadership have surpassed Sh4 trillion.
TADB’s continued collaboration with commercial banks to provide concessional loans aims to accelerate agricultural development and improve livelihoods for farmers throughout Tanzania.
