PM Majaliwa Hails TADB for Pioneering Agricultural Transformation in Tanzania

Dodoma. The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa, has commended the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) for spearheading a remarkable transformation in the country’s agriculture sector.

Speaking on August 3, 2025, after visiting the TADB pavilion — the Main Sponsor of this year’s NaneNane Farmers’ Exhibition — the Prime Minister praised the Bank’s critical role in accelerating the growth of agriculture and livestock industries in Tanzania.

“I commend TADB for the excellent work it is doing to drive the development of agriculture and livestock sectors, which remain the backbone of our nation and employ over 65% of Tanzanians,” Hon Majaliwa emphasized.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the TADB Managing Director, the Bank’s Director of Planning, Advisory and Institutional Relations, Mr Waziri Mkani, said TADB has recorded major milestones as it approaches its 10th anniversary since inception in 2015.

Among the key achievements is the Bank’s remarkable growth from a small institution to a key player in the country’s financial services sector.

“The Bank was initially capitalized with Sh60 billion. Today, we have disbursed loans worth Sh1.129 trillion — a significant milestone made possible by the commitment of the Sixth Phase Government to invest in the agriculture and livestock sectors, with a focus on empowering farmers who previously lacked access to affordable credit,” Mkani explained.

The NaneNane Agricultural Exhibition, celebrated every year across Tanzania, runs under this year’s theme: “Choose Quality Leaders for Sustainable Agricultural, Livestock, and Fisheries Development 2025.”
