Dodoma. The Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Eng. Hamad Yussuf Masauni, has called on Tanzanians to take environmental protection seriously, emphasizing that preserving the environment is essential to ensuring a safe and sustainable place to live.
Speaking on June 25, 2025 during a working session with the management team of the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) in Dodoma, Minister Masauni underscored the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding the environment.

He stressed that for environmental protection efforts to be sustainable, NEMC must intensify public education and service delivery to ensure that citizens fully understand the Environmental Management Act and their responsibilities in protecting the environment.
“The Council has a huge responsibility to ensure that the environment is well protected. But for this goal to be achieved, everyone must play their part in environmental conservation and management,” the Minister said.

On her part, NEMC’s Director General, Dr Immaculate Sware Semesi, commended the Minister for engaging directly with the Council’s management.
She noted that the session provided an opportunity to share constructive ideas aimed at improving both the Council’s operations and the country’s environmental well-being.
